前言: 搖滾名人堂代表傳奇表演藝人,製作人,詞曲創作者, DJ,與其他對於推動搖滾音樂有卓著功勳者,其最崇高的榮譽,這 20 年來,每年搖滾名人堂委員會透過推薦,評選等方式,邀請獲得資格的優秀人選參加頒獎受封儀式.無疑地,這些受獎者勢必也將成為搖滾樂的代表人物之一.

一旦獲選進入搖滾名人堂,他們的作品將會在這棟大樓裡得以陳列,包括 一部電腦化的自動唱片點唱機,清楚記錄著每位名人堂成員的每首歌曲,蝕刻玻璃製品的簽名,其演藝生涯與音樂將製成一部電影,透過三個大螢幕描述播放,搖滾 名人堂也會針對該年受勳者製作人工藝品,並加以陳列.

1983 年,一群音樂工業的佼佼者們聚在一起,成立了搖滾名人堂委員會.其目的是要表揚過去曾對搖滾音樂歷史在重要衝擊時期有卓越貢獻,或對搖滾樂有發展,保存功勞者,經委員會評審或推薦之後,邀請這些名人進入名人堂,表達敬意.

Early Influence

評選資格規定: 符合資格的藝人,音樂需在搖滾樂發展史之前,但影響後來搖滾樂的先驅,對其造成衝擊.評選委員依照 Non-Performers 與 Early Influences 名冊產生提名.

評選資格規定: 與首張專輯發行日距離 25 年以上之表演藝人,在搖滾樂的發展,與不朽歷史上有影響力與意義深遠之貢獻者.委員會每年依據表演藝人名冊選出提名名單,由 1000 位左右熟稔搖滾樂史的專家進行投票,投票率超過 50% 且最高票者即獲當選,委員會每年平均會選出 5-7 位受勳藝人.
